Shaping the Future of NewcastleGateshead

One Core Strategy and Urban Core Area Action Plan Consultation

 

Since 2009 Gateshead and Newcastle Councils have been working together on the preparation of the One Core Strategy and Urban Core Area Action Plan. They form part of the Local Development Framework and set out the Councils plans for future development for NewcastleGateshead.

The Core Strategy contains a spatial vision and strategic objectives, a spatial strategy, strategic policies and a monitoring and implementation framework. It identifies the broad locations for development and the growth as well as the infrastructure required to deliver growth. When adopted the Core Strategy will be Gateshead and Newcastle’s principal Development Plan Document.

The Urban Core Area Action Plan sets out how we will develop Newcastle City Centre, the Ouesburn, Gateshead Centre, Gateshead Quays and Baltic Business Quarter to improve our economy and make it a better place to live, work, shop and visit,

In September 2010 Gateshead and Newcastle Councils approved consultation on the Core Strategy Draft Plan and Urban Core Area Action Plan Draft Plan.

Consultation on the Core Strategy and Urban Core Area Action Plan Draft Plan will commence on 4th October 2011 until 4th January 2012.
